Zappacosta Vini is a boutique, family-run winery located in the heart of Abruzzo, Italy, where passion for winemaking has been passed down through generations. With deep agricultural roots in the region, the Zappacosta family began cultivating vineyards and producing wine in the early 20th century. What started as a humble, local endeavor has evolved into a dynamic winery known for its commitment to organic farming and authentic expression of terroir.

The turning point came in the early 2000s when the family transitioned from bulk wine to bottling their own label. This marked the beginning of a new chapter, focused on quality over quantity, while still respecting the traditional methods that shaped their heritage. Embracing sustainable practices, the Zappacostas chose to follow organic principles, ensuring that every bottle reflects both the purity of the land and the family’s dedication to responsible viticulture.

When Matteo Zappacosta, the newest generation of the family, returned to the estate after gaining international experience, he brought a modern vision to the winery. He focused on enhancing the expression of indigenous grape varieties such as Montepulciano and Trebbiano, while experimenting with fermentation techniques that highlight freshness, balance, and structure.

Among their standout wines is a refined Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC, celebrated for its bold character, vibrant fruit, and soft tannins. Each wine produced at the estate tells a story—not only of the grapes, but of the family’s enduring bond with the land and their desire to share a genuine taste of Abruzzo with the world.
