Story
Established in 1870 by Noè Apollonio, the Apollonio winery stands as a testament to over 150 years of winemaking excellence in the heart of Salento, Puglia. This family-owned estate has been passed down through four generations, each contributing to its rich legacy and commitment to quality.
Today, brothers Marcello and Massimiliano Apollonio helm the winery, seamlessly blending time-honored traditions with modern innovations. Their philosophy centers on enhancing Salento’s indigenous grape varieties, notably Negroamaro and Primitivo, as well as Malvasia Nera, Susumaniello, and Bianco d’Alessano. By focusing on these native varietals, the winery captures the authentic essence of the region’s terroir.
The estate encompasses approximately 120 hectares of vineyards, benefiting from Salento’s unique microclimate and fertile soils. This environment fosters the growth of high-quality grapes, which are meticulously hand-harvested to ensure optimal ripeness and flavor. The winery produces around 1.5 million bottles annually, offering a diverse portfolio that includes esteemed labels such as Copertino Riserva Divoto, Terragnolo, Rocca dei Mori, and Elfo. Each wine reflects the family’s dedication to excellence and their deep-rooted connection to the land.
Apollonio’s wines have garnered international acclaim, exporting to nearly 40 countries worldwide. This global presence underscores the universal appeal of their meticulously crafted wines, which embody the rich heritage and vibrant flavors of Puglia.
