Story
Nestled in the heart of Italy’s Marche region, the Andrea Felici winery is a family-run estate situated between the towns of Apiro and Cupramontana, renowned for their Verdicchio production.
Perched on a hill at an elevation of 516 meters, the winery offers panoramic views of a verdant valley adorned with vineyards and woodlands. Framed by the majestic peaks of Gran Sasso, Maiella, and Mount Catria, The estate spans 15 hectares, with vineyards ranging from 10 to 40 years old.
The unique microclimate, characterized by significant diurnal temperature variations and constant breezes, contributes to the high natural acidity and pronounced minerality of the wines.
The soil composition, rich in limestone, further enhances the distinctiveness of the Verdicchio grapes cultivated here.
Under the stewardship of Leopardo Felici, who took over the estate in 2007, the winery has embraced organic viticulture practices, ensuring the production of pure and expressive wines.
Leopardo’s extensive experience, including stints as a sommelier in London’s Savoy and Florence’s Enoteca Pinchiorri, has influenced his meticulous approach to winemaking.
The grapes are hand-harvested and fermented in stainless steel and cement vats, with no use of oak, allowing the true character of Verdicchio to shine through.
The winery produces two exceptional wines: “Il Cantico della Figura,” a single-vineyard cru from vines planted in 1968 at 500 meters elevation, and “Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore,” a cuvée from various vineyards on the Felici farm.
Both wines are celebrated for their purity, clarity, and longevity, embodying the pinnacle expression of Verdicchio.
Through a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation, the Andrea Felici winery continues to craft wines that authentically represent the rich heritage and unique terroir of the Marche region.
