Story

Alberto Longo’s winery, established in 2000, is deeply rooted in the rich viticultural heritage of northern Puglia, Italy. The Longo family’s passion for winemaking dates back to the 1960s, when they began cultivating vineyards and olive groves in the picturesque countryside of San Severo and Pietramontecorvino.

Located in Lucera, a town renowned for its historical and environmental significance, the winery is housed in a meticulously restored 19th-century farmhouse. This restoration harmoniously blends traditional architecture with modern winemaking technology, enabling precise control over every stage of production, from vinification to bottling.

The vineyards span approximately 35 hectares across the Celentano and Cavalli areas, benefiting from the unique microclimate influenced by the Balkan winds. This environment is ideal for cultivating indigenous grape varieties such as Nero di Troia, Montepulciano, Negroamaro, Primitivo, Bombino, and Falanghina.

A cornerstone of their production is the Cacc’e Mmitte di Lucera D.O.P., one of Italy’s oldest and smallest appellations, officially recognized in 1976. This distinctive wine is primarily crafted from the Nero di Troia grape, reflecting the region’s unique terroir and winemaking traditions.

Committed to sustainability, Alberto Longo’s winery employs organic farming practices and eco-friendly technologies, including geothermal heating and cooling systems, solar panels, and alternative energy sources. These efforts ensure the production of high-quality wines while preserving the environment for future generations.

Through a harmonious blend of time-honored traditions and innovative practices, Alberto Longo’s winery continues to produce exceptional wines that authentically represent the rich heritage and unique flavors of Puglia.
