Story
Domaine Karanika is a renowned winery located on the Amyndeo plateau in northwestern Greece. It is celebrated for producing exceptional sparkling and still wines that reflect the harmony of nature. Founded by Laurens M. Hartman-Karanika and Annette van Kampen, the winery focuses on organic and biodynamic viticulture. It cultivates unique grape varieties such as Xinomavro, Assyrtiko, and the almost forgotten Limniona.
The winery’s philosophy is centered on minimal intervention, allowing the true character of the grapes and terroir to shine. By using traditional techniques like gravity flow systems and natural clarifiers such as Montmorillonite clay, Domaine Karanika ensures the wines embody the essence of their origins.
One of their standout offerings is the Karanika Brut Cuvées, crafted from the versatile Xinomavro grape using the méthode champenoise. These sparkling wines have received international acclaim for their quality and finesse. They are a true reflection of the winery’s commitment to excellence.
Domaine Karanika’s focus on sustainability and dedication to winemaking have made them a key player in Greece’s wine renaissance. Through their efforts, they contribute to the growing global appreciation of indigenous Greek grape varieties.
