Story

Nestled on the northern slopes of Mount Etna, Camporè Winery stands as a symbol of tradition, innovation, and the deep connection between land and wine. Established in 2016 by sisters Maria Pia and Cristina Madaudo, the winery is located in the historic Contrade San Lorenzo and Campo Re in Randazzo, at an altitude of 765 meters. This elevated position, enriched by ancient lava flows, provides a unique, mineral-rich terroir that defines the character of Camporè’s wines.

The name “Campo Re,” meaning “King’s Field,” dates back to 1282, when King Peter III of Aragon camped in the area during the Sicilian Vespers. Over time, the land passed through the hands of various noble families, eventually being revived by the Madaudo sisters. With a decade of experience in viticulture and the inspiration of their grandfather, they transformed the estate into a modern expression of Etna’s winemaking potential.

Camporè is committed to sustainability, both in its vineyard practices and its architecture. The winery was designed with environmental respect in mind, using local materials to blend seamlessly into the surrounding landscape. Its Etna DOC wines—Etna Rosso, Bianco, and Rosato—are crafted with meticulous care, showcasing the balance, freshness, and complexity that the volcanic soil imparts.

A standout feature of the estate is its private train platform—an extraordinary way to welcome guests via the historic Circumetnea railway. This detail reflects Camporè’s dedication to offering a truly immersive and memorable experience for visitors.

Today, Camporè Winery is more than just a place of production—it is a celebration of Sicilian heritage, volcanic terroir, and a family’s passion for creating wines that speak of place, time, and authenticity.
